My mom has 2 birds and a new cat. The cat naturally goes to the bird cages and attacks them. I want her to keep the kitty cuz its only 5 months old and soo cute and nice and sweet but she likes the birds and the cat and would get rid of hte cat if anything. HELP!
Spray some water to the cat every time it attacks the cage until the cat stops.
How do i stop my cat from attacking my birds cage?

put ur bird in the cage. put ur cat aside it. have a treat in ur hand. when the cat tries to attack it just pull him by his collar. when he keeps quiet give him a treat. do this for sometime to train ur cat

You could move the bird cage to a higher spot so the cat cant get to it. Or whenever the cat swats at the birds spray its paws with water. Or give the birds to someone you know so they can have a good home. Good luck :]

Stand somewhere close where the cat does not see you and have a spray water bottle ready when he gets close to it. Then spray. Use the stream. After a couple of spats of water he will not go near it again.

Don’t let the cat have access to the bird cage, keep the birds in a room and close the door so the cat cannot get in.

Hang the cage up out of reach. Or sit with the kitten and use a spray bottle on the cat when he gets close to the birds.

Many times I have had both cats and birds, I never ever got them to stay away from the birds the cage gets knocked over and the birds can get hurt or out!! I finally found bird cages that are cat proof!! THEY are awesome! I have had mine for over 15 years and used it for several birds over the years and cats cant open it or get in it in fact they use it to sleep on it cant be knocked over or opened by a cat. I will attach the link were I got mine back in the 90’s, email them and see if they have any used ones you can buy, new ones are several hundred but SO WORTH IT I have got my moneys worth by far!! I have the one on the front page.. my kitty uses it as her napping bed SO CUTE! GOOD LUCK

Try to locate the birds cage where the cat cannot get to them. The cat could literally scare the birds to death or even claw them through the cage would could be fatal. I would squirt the kitty with a squirt gun full of water every time gets near the cage and also yell in a stern voice and say no. Eventually she should get the hint and associate the bird cage with water. And as you know kitty does not like water. Try not to let her see you when squirting her as she thinks its coming from near cage. Good luck.

Keep an eye on your cat and whenever he attacks, gently spray him with water and if the doesn’t, reward him with something he likes
