It is a very big cage for one budgie, because it was originaly made for my two budgies but then my other budgie, Buddy, passed away. Now Bubbles has all the room he wants in that cage, and it is now spotless! :)

4 feet long
2 feet wide minimum and maximum should not exceed your room door width
and about 4 feet high

would be a good minimum cage size for a pair of quakers.

It is not "perfect" because most birds would prefer much much bigger accommodation. You can call it a ‘perfect compromise’.

that might work. however i doubt it would because the bird cage might be to small compared to the garage. if, and that’s a big if, it works it would be almost worthless because it could not protect much. if you are trying to protect something small then a microwave reconfigured is much better.

Anyway..im finally ready to get another (i was devastated) ANYWAY i still have the cage and toys,,everything..it there some stuff i should just toss? Im cleaning it with a mild bleach with water.. already bought some new toys..i just dont want it to get sick for any reason ..its just a Widdle baby! Help please…No bleach maybe? umm…Keep the plastic toys..toss the other rawhide…umm cuddle bone pearch and stuff?

You can keep basically everything- As long as it’s all in good condition. (Frayed rope, chewed rawhide/wood, etc. are examples of things that I would throw. But if there are perches & toys that are not ‘broken in,’ I would certainly keep them!! Anything that can be cleaned and/or disinfected, though, I would also do that)

Bleach CAN be used around a birds’ home, depsite what common sense might tell us about parrots & their problems with common household products/toxins.

I use 5% chlorine bleach in a solution with HOT water in a spray bottle for the cage wires & tray.

To thouroughly disinfect the cage and non-pourus toys, you first need to clean them in a detergent like Simple Green to get all the organic (fecal/food) matter off it because organic matter immunitizes bleach and makes it’s disinfecting properties useless.

So clean off everything you plan to disinfect, first with detergent!!

Then wipe dry and spray on the chlorine bleach/hot water solution and let it evaporate naturally because this helps the bleach do it’s magic.

You can soak wooden perches in the bleach/hot water, but make sure they’re totally dry before placing back into the cage.

Easy way to remover spray paint from a bird cage.

If you cant get paint thinner and get the birds away from the fumes of paint thinner, you could try to buy a new cage, as that is safest. Paint thinner is the best option though, at least money wise.
